Splitter silencers made of plastic are used in supply air, outside air or exhaust air pipes made of plastics after noise-intensive devices such as ventilators and air scrubbers or in front of noise-sensitive areas such as laboratories, operating theatres, classes and lecture halls.
There are three types of splitter silencers; absorption silencers, resonance silencers and the combination of the two types, the absorption resonance silencer.
With absorption silencers, the acoustic energy is converted into heat, with resonance silencers against frequencies to the intermittent noise are generated through cavities and the absorption resonance muffler is a combination of these two types.
We only manufacture absorption silencers. The insulating material necessary for damping is wrapped in acoustically transparent foil and the splitters are covered with perforated plates so that the splitter silencer can also be deployed in chemical damp areas and hygienically sensitive areas.
The 250 Hz method is mostly used to calculate the attenuation value. This method is a rough calculation which can, but doesn’t have to, lead to a desired result. Since all the rest of the frequency band is neglected, the silencer is very likely to be oversized or undersized. It is better to use the frequency band of the sound source as the basis of calculation (octave band calculation) and to adapt the silencer to this frequency band. This calculation is much more complex, but the optimised result justifies the more effort.
We offer you the silencer design according to the 250 Hz "just in time” method.
For the calculation according to frequency band and total level, we need a little time, which means that an immediate interpretation according to this method is not possible; a written request is required here.
The silencer dimensions listed in our catalogue serve only as an example price and are not binding. We can construct the splitter silencer exactly according to your requirements in all dimensions and splitter variants.
