Ventilation ducts made of plastics are preferred for the removal of chemically contaminated exhaust air. Typical areas of application are in laboratories, electrical equipment, battery charging stations, sewage treatment plants, stable ventilation systems, natural gas plants, hospitals or swimming pools.
The plastics in the ventilation ducts have to be tailored to the respective type of application. The most important parameters here are the media and the ambient temperature, the nature of the chemical load, the assignable pressure range, the duct dimensions and the air flow to be transported.
The ventilation ducts can be supplied for the respective application with internal or external reinforcements. If there is negative pressure in the cooling channel, the use of internal reinforcements is advisable. These reinforcements are made from tubes and have only a small additional resistance.
The ventilation ducts and fittings can be optionally delivered with smooth ends, sockets or flanges. The billing of the ventilation ducts and fittings is carried out in accordance with the DIN 18379 in the latest version. For a surcharge, the ventilation ducts and fittings can be delivered cleaned and in film packaging.
A few sentences on DIN 1946 (wall thicknesses of ventilation ducts).
The standard often leads in practice to very large wall thicknesses, which cannot or can only rarely be realised, as well as making the ventilation ducts and fittings unprofitable.
A solution for this problem is the use of thinner wall thicknesses with additional reinforcement. There are appropriate calculation programs for this solution so that the ratio of wall thickness and reinforcements under the existing conditions of use can be optimally designed.
